NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE, MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME

Our church is making every effort to be a place where people can be themselves, and still be accepted. We want that to be true in our "real space" and in our "virtual space". Since you are here at this blog, spend some time reading the various posts, and then click on the "comment" link below each post and share your thoughts. There’s a Verse for That!

You’ve probably seen the ads for Apple’s iPhoneiphone14 where they state that “there’s an app for that”. The premise for the ad campaign is that whatever issue or problem you might have, or whatever need arises can be dealt with right on your iPhone because… “there’s an app for that”. This reminded me of the way things should be for us as Christ followers, whenever stuff gets crazy, or we have issues that arise we can always know that “there’s a verse for that”. You see God has given us a great resource in scripture (even better than the iPhone). We can look to the Bible as the absolute authority for each and every decision we need to make.

So, with that in mind, I am asking folks to help me out with a little project that I want to turn into a sermon series in the very near future. Here’s what I need you to do; think of a question regarding faith, Jesus, life issues, whatever, and write it as a comment to this post. Then I will take the questions that folks have, and I will do a sermon with the Biblical answer for the questions that have been posted. Easy enough right! Well, I am sure the questions we have (invite your friends to ask their questions as well) may be tough to answer, but I know that God has given us His answer right there in the scriptures.

Ask your question by making a comment on this post (look below) and then look forward to the upcoming sermon series “There’s a Verse for That”.

What does scripture say about how we spend our money, how much TV we watch, and how many activities our kids are involved in?

Why can't some people accept that they made a bad choice and they are, now, living with the consequences??

What does scripture say about someone who claims to be a christian, but lives a very ungodly life?

I've never fully understood the difference between sin and iniquity. And when the Bible talks about "prayers and supplication" what exactly is supplication?

Why is it that once you confess your sins to God, pelple around you are slow to forgive and to understand?

Did Jesus go to hell when He died to pay for our sins?

I've heard it said that the devil knows the word and believes Jesus died to save the world. That's where relationship with Jesus makes us different. Is that true? Is it about confession or even if we confess will God still say He never knew us if we don't have relationship?
