Here is the second post in a series of blog posts that began with “Purpose”. I hope that you will take some time and consider the things that are here in these posts. Perhaps these thoughts might make for some curious conversation among those you influence…keep reading.
Purpose is the highest point of our existence, why are we here and what are we doing here. This truth is a sobering thought that will keep you grounded if you know that the Creator provides purpose for all of His eternal creatures. VISION is the picture of what your specific purpose looks like. Purpose being at the top of our existence, means that it is going to be a very general idea, but as you begin to bring purpose into a personal focus you will need VISION to get specific. VISION is best understood through preferred circumstances. In other words, what do you enVISION your life looking like. As you consider how things will be for you in the future (both short term and long term), how do you picture your circumstances. Do you see yourself with lots of friends, or just a few, with widespread influence, or a few choice deep relationships. These thoughts make up your vision. Not only in the area of friendships, but in all areas of our lives we need a VISION of what we want to experience. This “painting” of our future keeps us motivated to work until we see that picture come to life! Proverbs 29:18 says, “where there is no vision the people perish…” this is extremely true in our hurried modern lives. We have to have a road map/painting/picture/photo/VISION to our desired circumstances or the pace of our existence will never allow us to “look up” and see where we want to be. That road map/painting/picture/photo/VISION is best laid out with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus.
